The Development Authority of DeKalb County and the DeKalb Chamber of Commerce are working closely with the DeKalb County Workforce Development Department and DeKalb Technical College to build a strong a vibrant DeKalb. Also involved is the Governor’s Office of Workforce Development, the department advising and implementing entity for the Governor that also serves as staff to the State Workforce Investment Board. Their role is to promote the Governor’s visions of linking education and workforce development and aligning that linked effort with the economic development of the State, its regions and communities. The Governor’s workforce development vision links education and workforce development and aligns them with economic development at the State, regional and community levels.

The DeKalb Microenterprise Institute (DMI) is a community-based entrepreneurial initiative created through an alliance of community stakeholders. The mission is to provide business development, and financial management training to area residents who would like to start a business and/or who need assistance in expanding an existing business. The DMI is a collaborative partnership of DeKalb County government, Georgia Perimeter College, and other strategic partners that have combined their resources to create a comprehensive training and development network. DEBCO (DeKalb Enterprise Business Corporation) Microloan program was established to combine the resources of the Small Business Administration with those of DEBCO.
